1. Do Some Housekeeping
The colder fall and windy winter days may have blown debris on your patio, such as leaves, dirt and sticks. The first step to preparing your patio is to clean it off — sweeping and pressure washing are great places to start. 2. String Some Lighting
You may have taken down your bistro lights or other light fixtures to protect them during winter. Now is the time to put them back up and get a head start on being able to enjoy the warmth of summer nights.

Summers are made for grilling hamburgers, hot dogs and bratwursts. Replace your grill to its rightful place on your patio and give it — and your grilling tools — a good wash. After all, you must be prepared for any spontaneous barbecues that may pop up. You might also want to keep a watermelon and a few refreshing beverages on hand, just in case.
4. Decorate the Space
After all the housekeeping and structural elements are in place, it’s time to decorate. Add accessories like plants, lanterns and other decor, and adjust your patio furniture so it’s in an ideal position for cozy conversations with family and friends. Maybe you prefer color or perhaps you own more neutrals — either way, spruce up your patio and create an inviting space to relax alone or host a group of friends.
